If it's an '03 than it's definitely not an X. X models came out in '04 and later.

^What he said. Also, the 'X' stands for AWD so it will have a transfer case and front differential.

If you buy a car, you should really know if it's AWD vs RWD. There is some difference in resale or asking price in various markets.

How can you tell? Do you have a SNOW button? Front halfshafts? Basically...do oyu have a front drivetrain?

^ it's on 03. It's not AWD.

The rear will always drop when you put the car in gear, it will raise when the car is in park. Not blown shocks/struts.

the idiot way to check is SNOW button.

we now know its an 03 and not an X but if he bought a car and doesn't know, telling him to check for a T-case, front shafts, front drivetrain isn't going to do much. If you dont know what your exactly buying you most likely dont know what your buying.

I've heard many salesman lie to the automotive challenged people with used 2wd SUV, telling/selling them as AWD/4WD and paying the premium for it as well. Its one thing to lie to sell a car for what its worth, its another to lie and sell a car thats it not and bank off difference ( normally 1-3k more)

Yep the red shocks definitely represent the sport package in addition to the silver aluminum trim on the inside.

I bought mine from an Infiniti dealer, and I asked him where the Snow button was located. I was expecting it on the lower left with the trunk release. He did a quick look around and after not finding it, said "Some of the AWD's didn't have the Snow Mode option." I found it as soon as I sat back down in the driver's seat. I got a letter about a month later from the dealership saying my salesman was no longer working there. Felt bad for the guy, but if you're going to work at a higher end car dealership, you should know your vehicles better than that.

salesman are not required to know anything about the car they sell you. Customers make the mistake of listening to them and thinking they know stuff. They are just interested in selling.

They normally read the window sticker if you ask them anything. I thought about being a salesman but i couldn't do it because they are just cut throat.
