Hey, Infiniti, Listen Up! Free Focus Group Info!
Okay, we've all seen the 2005 Infiniti G35 sedan. And while many of us probably haven't driven one, I'm sure we have some suggestions for Infiniti to make the car even better for 2006. So why don't we play focus group for all the Infiniti upper management and design people and offer reasonable suggestions to implement in the 2006 models.
Here are my thoughts: Suggestion #1: While I don't dislike the orange/amber dash lights I wish they were green or blue instead. Sure, everyone has green or blue dash lights and the orange/amber is unique and different, but in my humble opinion the orange is cheap looking. Suggestion #2: Make the AWD available in a six speed manual transmission. Suggestion #3: While this doesn't pertain to the sedan, make the coupe in AWD! Suggestion #4: Redo the dash altogether. Make it look more high-tech with gauges that have more of an avaitor-look to them. Suggestion #5: Have a better song title/artist/channel title readout when using satellite radio. Suggestion #6: Have seat warmers that warm the entire bottom of the seat not just the far back. Suggestion #7: Make the high beams HID lights, too. And re-work how the lights work. make it so the running lights can be on seperate of the main headlights. Suggestion #8: Can the roof be lowered? I'm 6'2" and there's easily five inches between the top of my head and the roof. Suggestion #9: Get brakes that don't shed so much brake dust! This is the only car I've ever owned that had so much brake dust. Suggestion #10: Try and improve the gas mileage. Hybrid (?) Just some ideas Mr. and Mrs. Infiniti design team members and management. |
Do not like Suggestion #8.... Im 6'-4" and I only have maybe around 1.5" of free space between my head and roof... I wouldnt not lower it anymore... Want a low roof get the coupe... Actually the coupe was my first pick, but my head was just touching the roof in the coupe so I went with the sedan because of the added head room.
One of the main reasons I switched to Nissan Cars was there the only car maker that designs there cars for people over 6' tall. |

Suggestion #1: I love the orange, once i drove a VW they got purple and its actually kind of hard for me to see during the night because the color that shine to my eyes are stronger then outside.

We owned a Passat & it was red with some blue accents. I loved the interior, very similar to Audi quality. It was 100x better than the orange. |
My only wishes would be:
-Bluetooth -Upgraded NAV w/ voice commands and improved graphics (as in the new M35/45) |
Folks!
I appreciate all the feedback on my suggestions, but unless you are completely, totally happy with all aspects of your car please keep this thread focused on ways Infiniti can (reasonable, cost appropriate ways) improve the 2006 models. Also, please don't get the wrong idea! I love my 2004 G35x to death. It is easily the best car I have ever owned. But nothing, even our Gs, is perfect. |
As for dash lighting color, I think it should be able to change different colors by the push of a button like some car stereos can do. Make the colors amber, blue, green, and any other color people seem to like. With LEDs you could pretty much make them any color you want.
I would like a better interior, looks a little cheap. And while I haven't experienced it yet, make the paint chip less since there seems to be a lot of people that say their paint chips a lot. Get rid of the foot pedal parking brake, it seems like a truck. |
My wishlist:
1) upgrade the stereo, so more infromation can be displayed 2) integrate the xm/sirius antenna, so that is looks like it belongs there 3) add auto locking door locks, when car is in D or at 10mph 4) have the ability to roll down windows and open sunroof, and be able to close them from the remote as well 5) Lower the car a little so it looks sportier 6) raise the 3rd brake light to the top, more visibility 7) add side indicator lights and a rear fog light 8) improve the ergonomics in the dash. |

I think Infiniti definitely should make a 6 spd AWD sedan. I would buy one in a flash instead of getting a Sedan and fooling around with snow tires and extra wheels.

leave the roof alone
I've got to agree with Dan. I'm also 6'4" ish. The G35 appeals so much to me (in addition to the performance) because it is the only rear-drive sport sedan that is available without a sunroof (and its negative effect on headroom). So my list...
11. leave the roof alone 12. keep the base model without S/R (don't go dropping it next year) 13. offer some of the nicer features without S/R (Homelink, Bose, Nav...) 14. fold-down rear seats 15. a bit more steering feel 16. give us back the cloth seats ( I know I'm odd, but I'd prefer the seat to be cool in the summer and warm in the winter) |

I have 2 children and definitely prefer cloth seats so that child safety seats can be planted more firmly onto the seat cushions than leather seats will allow. I buy my cars for performance and not much into gadgets or "luxurious comforts". That's why I love the G for it's awesome blend of driving feel. |

I just thought of another cheap but valuable change for 06. Get rid of that cheap, dorky sounding horn toot when locking the doors. Give it a sound equal to the status this car deserves. Even the Acura TL and Toyota Camry have a better sound when locking the doors. Yes, I know I can turn off the ridiculous horn when locking, but I do like the idea of some kind of sound just not that embarrassing horn toot. Makes the car sound like it's farting!
