Well, with 30k, the car pretty much sat a lot....and as a result, a feisty little critter made a nest in the HVAC box on top pf the filter.

These things do get dirty fast. I do mine every spring and it's always black

Wow thats pretty nasty.

A critter got in there?

Seriously if thats rodent dropping I suggest doing a proper disinfection of the vent and other areas.

You could be breathing in those droppings long after the filters been changed.

Did I mention thats just effing gross.

I wouldnt be able to drive my car if thats what my filter looked like.

Haha, +1 for sure!

Hey, hyperwhite. Where on the East Coast are you located if you don't mind? I just picked up a fairly low mile 05 X and I'm assuming I may need to do this now as well. Oh, and do you have the part number for the filter?

I'm located close to the philly area. I went to a local Walmart and they had it in stock at the auto parts section for around $16. I've never seen a filter this nasty b4 in my life.. I lysoled the crap out of the vent system. LOL

And I thought my gf's car was bad for having a pile of leaves in it.

Hopefully the critter didn't come with the car.
