hmm thats odd, its a quad setup, and only one went out. Could the 55w ballast be the cause of this?

It mayb a quad set up but if your are using your oem lights you are probly using the oem ballast and ignitor up top and the 55w ballast is down low. If you gonna runn 55w ballast you should use the relay harness. Probly not enough power of the oem wiring to power the 55w ballast. Eventually it might fry the oem wiring

thanks for sharing your knowledge. I really appreciate the input. the headlights are aftermarket with fx projectors and Tl projectors. fx are run by 35w ballast and Tl are run by 55w ballast. Both run through a relay harness and the picture was taken of the relay harness where it connects to the ballast. do you think maybe the ballast fried the relay harness's wires?
