Squelching noise from 1st to 2nd gear

My 2006 which I just bought, 70k miles, has what I can only describe as a brief squelching noise after cold start up just before changing to 2nd gear (auto transmission). It only happens once and not on subsequent gear shifts up or down. Is this normal (I am an G35 newbie, transferred from old Jaguars ) but as the car has a 3k warranty I wonder if I should have it looked at or is a noise in first shifting from 1st to 2nd on a trip normal?
Than you,
Michigan.

My car has a strange sound that I guess could be described as similar to squelching....probably more of a dry sound than a wet sound as "squelching" would entail. But yeah it happens when I initially take off in the morning after a cold start. I believe its normal.

It's the ABS/VDC system check which is completely normal. Happens once after each start. You can search and find other threads that describe it, but that's where my money is.

^^Yep, I think it sounds like running over a grate. It freaked me out the first time it happened when I had my foot on the brake, vibrated the crap out of my foot. It's perfectly normal.

My car does this too, but like it's been said. It only does it once and then it shifts fine, so I'm not worried about it.

Wow I thought I was the only one who G made this sound.

I thought it was my transmission crapping out on me or something.

Its always sounds from 1st to second gear after starting the engine for the very first time.
It happens regardless of whether the car is hot or cold.

The sound is the exact same when the G is going over slippery surfaces also.

I noticed this too as did a girl I recently met. Her 2007 is a manual and mine is an auto and we couldn't figure out why both our cars would have the same noise at the same time lol.

Are you looking for the answer? Or just saying that you didn't knew before reading it was the ABS/VDC system check?

If this is directed at me I didn't know before reading it was the ABS/VDC check...my 2004 6MT didn't make this noise. But since my friend's 2007 6MT and my 2007 AT make the exact same sound at the exact same point I'm sure it is the system check.
