E-fan conversion???
Can I take a e-fan from a 05 sedan and just install it in my 03 sedan? I have a mechanical fan now. I want electric. Don't know if there has been thread already on this.(taking 05 e-fan and putting it in place of 03 mechanical fan) Every thread I have seen about e-fan starts out good but ends up being about HP gains. I'm more interested in just changing out the mechanical fan first. The noise it gives off is horrible.
i just changed my mechOLD fan for a aftermarket -fan aluminim shroud (for a manual) and dual motors from ebay.
i used relays to wire it up to the aux fan in the front.
they do run usually on stop and go traffic, but i can hardly ever hear them from the inside.
as far as
MPG: no diff. very slightly better maybe.
Power : dont' see much of a gain
Engine Response: very slighlty better. doesn't feel like the engine is straining.
Sound: alot better. also conside my mechOLD fan was sliglty vibrating especially at 4k rpm causing a loud grunty noise. but the engine is overall quieter.
Smoothness: BIG BIG improvement. engine vibration is lower and feels more like a lux car. maybe it was cuz my old was going bad.
overall the biggest improvement were sound and engine smoothness.
the aluminim shroud bolted up to the top bolts, but it did not line up to the holes in the bottom. i'm not sure if the oem electric shroud from a manual or auto will line up.

I used an 04 manual elec. fan set, I had to do to clear my Aluminum Radiator Basically you can control the 2 elec. fans with the dual winding (hi/lo) singnal from the single elec. fan on the 03
But it is pretty involved as far as wiring.
What I did=
1 New 05' elec
2 05' fan connectors from Nissan
2 30 amp relays 2 35 amp fuseable links.
Ran wires from round 4 pole single elec. fan connector (2 prongs are energized to turn the old single elec. fan on low then the other two are energized to turn the old single elec. fan on high) to close (energize) inputs relays 1 for high 1 for low, relays are connected through fuseable links to batt. and when energized low side turns on #1fan, high side turns on #2 fan. Had this set up for about 3 years with NO! issues, Have ran to Vegas accross the Mojave 120 deg. car left idling for 1 hour 115 deg a/c on. fans usually cycle on and off for 10 to 15 sec. and cycle with a/c compressor.
