Question Seat problems

Probably in the wrong section but hey.. people will see this.

Being that i normally dont ride shotgun in my own car i had never tried to move the seat back and forth.

Recently i found out that the seat wont move forward and is kind of glitchy backwards (i only hit it once because i dont want it all the way to the rear). Also, the recline works completely fine both ways.

I started looking at the seat and saw a stain mark on it, I guess the previous owner had a spill and it messed up the controls? I feel like i have stumbled across a thread about this before, and it seemed like it is difficult to work on these seat because of the airbags or something and the dealers steer clear?

Someone point me in the right direction!

Thanks
Houston

It's one thing if your control switches need cleaning or replacing but there are also common problems with the plastic gears that drive our seats forward and back. If you determine that is what's going on here's a link to replacement parts:

I haven't read much in here about the "dangers" of working with seats because of the airbags. I never even thought about it really. Usually the SRS wiring is robust and done with servicing in mind so the shops aren't inadvertently exploding or disabling the bags. I'm sure others in here can speak from experience...

Thanks this kind of helps, im an accounting intern at a tire/car place.
I will get my mechanic to help help me remove it. I guess you all cant really help me unless i know the full extent of the problem.

I hope it is the switch but it is probably the motor shorting out.
