Hey guys,

Picked up a '05 g35x a month ago. Came with 20" chromes and steelies for the winter. 20" is too big for me, so I've been looking around for 18" (even if I can get my hands on the originals I'd be happy).

Just came across 17" original G35 rims (one of the nicer versions) at an absolute STEAL of a price. $50/rim! Going to go fast, just wondering if I should go with it or continue a search for some 18"! Not sure how big of a difference it would make in terms of looks.

Looking for some members to post pictures of their cars before and after with similar sizing so I can get an idea! (Because the visualizer programs on rim websites suck for that lol).

Thanks guys!

I definitely wouldn't do 17s, way too small. Stick with 18s or even consider 19s. My preference is 19s, 18s still look too small on our cars unless you are really slammed.

First post pics of your car with your 20's, maybe you would like to reconsider keeping them. I think 19's looks best on our sedan especially on a 2" drop, maybe you should get your 20's powdercoated.

If they are 20" and chrome most likely they are hideous.

I choose 18 because 17 would be pedo status.

look for 19" coupe Rays. 17s are way too small. I picked up 19s with tires for $75 a wheel

@cameronb: you buy them private or know a guy?

I would love some 18" rays... just having trouble finding them!
I figure there's no point in downsizing just an inch to 19"... might as well keep the 20s then.

Does anyone have pictures of their cars (or someones) that had 17" and then moved to 18 or higher? Just curious to see how small the 17s actually look! Their seem to be alot being sold in my area '-_-

The coupe Rays were only made in 19", the '05-'06 sedan sport wheels (similar style to Rays) were 18". If you're talking about the stock coupe 18's, then you might also want to check out the 350z 18's, they are the 5 spoke and look great on the sedan.

17's

18's

Not a G but 18's on my G and 16's on the subbie you can see how small the 16's look in comparison.

Hmmm
@G35SedanGRN
Thanks for posting the pictures, very helpful! The different between 17" and 18" does seem pretty big! Guess I'll continue my diligent search for well priced 18".

I've attached a picture with my G on 20s.

I really like the G rims below... were they made in 18" with an offset for the sedan?

The ones you posted are Coupe Rays 19" wheels, they are a staggered (F: 19x8+30, R:19x8.5+33) and they sit almost perfect on the sedan. They are a bit sunk IMO, but nothing a drop, spacers and camber can't fix. Plenty of members run those wheels, including myself.

Heres a thread dedicated to those wheels.

Here's my car on stock 17's

Here it is on the Coupe 19's

Yep - same style as the 19 inch Rays forged wheels, but not forged. They were an option on the 2005 and 2006 G35 sedans. 18x7.5 with equal offsets. As much as I love the 19 inch Rays versions, they are staggered. I have a G35X so I wanted the same width and offset all round, as well as the ability to rotate my wheels. I picked this set up out of the Private Classified section here and plan on installing them soon;

Definitely go with at least 18's. I went from stock 17's to Coupe 18's and it made a world of difference. I have some pictures, but will have to upload them once I get home.

Just like pontiacstogo, I love the Ray's 19's, but wanted to go with the same width and offset all around for my X. Tires are also a lot cheaper for 18's.
