turbo kit or every single bolt on possible

Hi peepz, i m saving up around $6k to make mods on my car, but I'm stuck deciding if I should go NA or FI. My ideal goal will be to make it around 350 whp. I'm not too sure about turbo kit because of reliability issues and not sure if every single bolt on will even make up to 350 whp.. this is why I'm asking... Should I go turbo kit or buy every single bolt on possible? Thanks for the help in advance....

Go turbo. Greddy makes a great kit for our cars. Just make sure you get a boost controller and turbo timer so you can controll the amount of boost you will be running and controll the cool down for the turbo without having to sin in your car for the extra time.

turbo... You're going to have an extremely hard time sucking 350+ awhp out of the engine even with all the bolt ons

With I/H/E, and cams you might get 290 whp. You would have to do a stoker kit to stay n/a and get the numbers you want:

You could also look into a supercharger for the numbers you want.

The kit is around $2500. Not sure how much to have the engine built, but i guess the same or more than the kit.

If you want easiest streetable, reliable power, an SC kit is the way to go. Then you can bolt-on from there.

If you are willing to lose reliability but want ballz-out power, go Twin Turbo.

IMO, 6 grand is not enough for a proper TT build. A proper exhaust is needed prior to SC or turbo, or even to go N/A power, so you have to factor that cost in also.

For 350 WHP, and a 6grand budget, you're looking at a supercharger IMO.

Thanks for the info so far guys. It looks like everyone is leaning towards turbo kit and personally I don't like S/C because its not as efficient as a turbo.

6k isn't enough for NA power, also since you have an X your options for modding are already limited

You might want to do some more research on this. I'm not about to start a dispute, because both sides are easily argued, but keep in mind, yes, you do have to drive a Supercharger which consumes power/energy.

But don't think a turbo gets something for nothing either. That turbo is a restriction, a huge restriction, in the exhaust stream. It takes power to spool it.

You never get something for nothing. A SC is easily the best option for a lot of power on a moderate budget. Especially for a DD.

Just food for thought. I used to think the same as you.

eh, any FI adds way too much extra weight on the front end. SC is a good compromise for reliability and power. SCs are def the WORST sounding option unfortunately.

I am into my tt for about 7k total with buying a used kit and finding deals on parts. I installed everyting myself and had it tuned with uprev. I wouldnt go s/c but thats my opinion. Right now im running 7lbs of boost and am at 367 rwhp and 399 ft lbs. I havent had an issue yet. Only issue is getting tires to stick so now im running a 295 on enkei pf01s. Oh im 5at so i have a transgo. I may switch to 6mt so i may get close to 400rwhp at 7lbs

So your 5AT trans broke? How long until it broke after turbo?
