How long did it take you guys?
How long did it take you guys for driving stick to become second nature? I have been driving for about 1 month now and I'm decent at best. My shifts aren't always smooth (especially 1 to 2), my hill starts aren't great, and neither are my downshifts. Don't even get me started on launches..But yeah.. I wanted to know how long it has taken you guys to get where you are today so I know that I just need more practice.
Haven't driven a G35 stick, but I've read that the G35 shifter is a bit finicky at times. I have owned a standard car though, a 2000 Toyota Celica GTS. Quick, fun car. Learned on a 91 Mustang 5.0 with a bad clutch. Didn't really take me long to learn how to shift, but it did take me a while to learn how to shift properly and smoothly.
Just like most things in life, it takes practice. A person might learn the fundamentals of driving a standard vehicle quickly, but it will take them a while to really master it or have it become second nature. It's just gonna take a while before you learn your engagement point and how much throttle it'll take on a variety of different surfaces and levels. Just keep at it and you'll get it and then once you do, you'll never forget it. Kinda like riding a bike.

I thought I mastered my G.
THEN, I started work in SF so I had to commute there everyday. You really dont get GOOD until you drive stick in busy city traffic. When you get decent, just force yourself into an environment like that to learn. I knew my clutch preeetty well after
