So while I have the AT light holy crap now my car wont start thing looked at....I may as well dig in to some more of my stuff. As my other thread states, I have a 2004 G35X sedan that I love, with 190,000 or so miles on it, 150k of which are all mine. Thru the last 2 years of the car I have done more wheelbearings than I care to think about. I think I am on #4 on each side of the front!! Has anyone else had this many issues with the wheel bearing? If so is there a root cause beyond them that is causing them to smoke? mind you I have done them factory, dealership, and high end aftermarket timken bearings.
So since my beloved car is going to head to the shop anyway....wondering if there are any thoughts.....

 

Are you lowered? Have you changed the suspension geometry? After market wheels with the wrong offset? Do you regularly drive through deep water/ salt water?

 

None of the above...other then living in New England.

 

Bad wheel alignment can also cause the bearings to go bad as well as a bad wheel hub.

 

Had a brake caliper sieze up on me which warped the rotor and killed my bearing. Just a thought...

 

Who's installing the bearings? Do the bearings get pressed into a hub? Are they being damaged during instalation?
I have a '97 Max with 213k miles on the original bearings.

 

The x seems to have the bearing problems. My 05 has 143k on original bearings.
