Awesome number.

I wiped everything down as much as I could. I think here before my next oil change I will pull them again and see how it looks.

I'm going to bump this as I start doing the research because winter is growing near in MN, I remember hearing something about a company that replaces the seal on covers and sends them to you, and in return you can send them yours as a core. Anyone have the link handy? I can't seem to find it in here.

search the marketplace on here and my350z - used valve covers pop up every month or so. i would go that route rather than buying new ones.

Because used ones are going to be a heck of a lot cheaper, and the new one you just spent 250.00 on is (IMO) destined for failure eventually. May as well pick one up with low mileage if at all possible and save a few bucks.

I figure the remans are just as reliable as new and 1/3 the price.

^ I'm going to put this as kindly as I can - you don't know what you're talking about so please stop. That's like telling someone to never buy a used car.

To the OP, there are plenty of folks on here who have replaced their leaky valve covers with used ones. As long as it wasn't defective to begin with, it should be fine. (For reference, pretty much everyone who's posted up pix of their painted valve covers in the engine bay thread is rocking a pair of secondhand valve covers). Just remember to get new gaskets and take your time on the install - it doesn't take more than 60-90 minutes going slow if you have basic hand tools.

Yet even new cars have issues. So why, again, should the OP pay 2-3 times as much for a new set of valve covers when he can get perfectly good used ones in our marketplace?

I started to change mine yesterday and I knew I was going to see some type of oil in #6, but when I pulled it out it was more than I expected, half way full of oil. Going to the dealer on monday to get the valve cover replaced, since I still have warranty. Not sure if I should get the other 5 replaced because there was no oil dripping, but there was some on the spark plug itself.

Wait so you have to buy a whole new valve cover just to fix this problem?? This doesnt make sense for just replacing a gasket or is there more to it than just the gasket??? I've seen the pictures from different threads of when people replace their valve cover and I just dont understand y u would have to replace the whole valve cover instead of just the gasket.

The gaskets are molded into the valve cover. Yes, it is as stupid as it sounds. There are a couple places that will drill out and replace the gaskets for you, but you have to send it off to have it done.

This is the biggest peeve I have about this car. Thanks Nissan.
