2004 G35 Sedan SRS System
What's up. I have an 04 g35 sedan.
front passenger and driver airbags were deployed.
the airbag light is on.
I just ordered a driver steering wheel airbag.
I looked to see if there was a crash sensor on the radiator support and there is but i don't know if it's in working condition because I didn't place it there.
I thought all I needed to do was to get new front airbags and seat belts.
but now I'm wondering if I need to replace the clock spring and the srs ECM
I was looking online and on this forum for clock spring info.
I found that on some cars that is your steering wheel buttons work then your clock spring is good. but here I found that the airbag uses a different clock spring than the buttons.
I saw online some guy say to test continuity between the orange and and yellow connectors.
but the two connectors have 2 wires each. which wire of which connector do ingest continuity from?
and another thing about how if those yellow and orange connectors are melted then you need to replace the clock spring.
I was just gonna buy some new connectors from eBay and wire them to the old wires and connect to the new airbag.
so how do I know if the clock spring is good. or how can I legitly test it?
also how do I know if the srs ECM is good too. or is there a way to reset it or test it?
and is there anyway to test that crash sensor to see if it works?
thanks in advance.

^ these questiosn are all pertaining to your first thread...
With regards to checking your airbags see the link below,

I dont know what clock spring your talking about and what the steering wheel buttons has to do with it, can you clarify?

In my first thread I didn't ask how to test the clock spring or if it was possible to reset/test the srs ECM.
Nor did I ask how to check if the crash sensor worked.
and by steering wheel buttons and clock spring. the clock spring is to transfer wire signals from the steering wheel buttons (volume, cruise control etc.)
as I said above. on some cars the airbag clock spring is the same clock spring as the button clock spring.
but in a thread you made. someone says the buttons and airbag use different clock springs.
So how do I know if the airbag clock spring/ECM/crash sensor works or not.
that link you posted is good. thanks. but it really just tells me the codes. Not how to read them.
I need a scan tool for this right?
all I find is "how to reset the air bag light"
no point in resetting it if it'll come back on because its still missing srs component signals.
nothing on how test/check the system.

yeah but if you install the airbags properlly and reset the light it shouldnt come back, to be honest im not sure if the airbag light can be reset by an OBD sensor maybe someone else knows? And Okay i get what you mean now, yah its not the same spring, you need to test your airbags this is how you test the clock spring

I saw some videos on how to reset your light.
and I saw that video last night. guess I was to tired to catch on on how it was done haha.
thanks for showing it to me now that I'm more awake haha.
and the guy mentions , "this helps you so you don't have to be under the dash."
I still gotta get down there and unplug that connector lol.
but it makes more sense now. since I have 2 connectors. I'll check both connectors.
yea. I could've posted there. but not everyone checks it. hopefully it helps people down the road when thy google it.
