'the heck is this??
This small bracket is on the inside of the centre console ('04 6MT Sedan).
Looks like something clips to it, but this is how it was when i got the car.

ok, wider shot.
it's a part of the centre console molding, not glued/screwed in place.
I know the 6MT consoles are different than the AT models, so I'm hoping someone with a stick sedan can identify what's missing.

Look in my garage and go through the pics. I have a 2005 6mt sedan and what you are pointing out is the tab that holds the cup holder divider. It is a pos cup holder but nonetheless a cup holder in the end.

Weird. Mine is different and only on the driver's side.
I can't even claim it's some weird Canadian-market only option, as my car is a US model.
My car has front cupholders but they're under the armrest (kind of a useless place for them, unless you're obsessive about hiding your coffee).
Oh well.... whatever it is, it's not there anyway.

Mystery is solved. I had to get under the passenger seat to retrieve a socket, and I found the missing part (and about $3.00 in US change from the previous owner!)
It's a spring-loaded arm that pops out when you wan to use the cubby as a cup-holder. It's pretty useless, actually:

The weird thing is there are already four cup-holders in the console. This makes six.
