How to repair separated leather or vinyl on interior door grab bar

The material (leather or vinyl?) on the back side of the inside door is coming apart. How would I fix this? I think I may be able to use Gorilla Glue if I could take the handle off of the door. Is that possible?

I see how to remove the silver colored panel, and found the two screws under that, but the handle is still secure on the panel. So I think I would need to remove the entire panel. Should I just order a new door panel from our favorite internet auction site?

This is a 2005 G35x sedan. Thank you.

3M spray adhesive worked well for me and held extremely well in all conditions. Just be careful when spraying because its tough to get out if accidentally sprayed where not intended.

So there are two problems here - what glue to use that will adhere to the vinyl and withstand the heat on hot summer days, and how to remove the grab bar from the panel in order to put the material back and glue it.

It sounds like auto parts stores carry spray adhesive that will work for the first problem

The second problem is where I'm really stuck though. It looks like the door panel must be removed, but I can't figure out how (or if it is feasible) to remove the grab handle from the door panel. I've looked at pictures of used panels on ebay, and they appear to be molded together (are plastic rivets a thing?). I'm not sure though. I have a regular rivet gun so metal rivets would not be a problem.

Thank you all!

I would look on here in the sound forum for panel removal. Also people have done suede interiors, so I would look in the interior forum.

Ben, I had a similar issue. Found out that the panel and door handle are bonded together, like you describe with a plastic rivet type system, which unfortunately, means to replace, you have to order the whole panel. After searching for a while, I finally picked one up off an online junk yard on our favorite internet auction site for a decent price. I'm very happy the way it turned out. I got quotes from upholstry shops that said they can get the door handle off. They had no idea what they were talking about. Get the whole panel. I haven't found another way around this and have been on this forum for a number of years. Also, do a search for door panel removal on here and you'll find the DIY for it. It's easy. Good luck.

I haven't fixed it yet, but I did get an estimate from an upholstery shop and I'm going to try that route first. I looked into getting one from eBay but I couldn't find the exact panel I needed, and the ones that I did find were more expensive than the repair estimate.
