I have been using the site vastly over the past few months as I was trying to figure out what car to buy. It came down to an 04 TL vs an 04 G35 with comparable miles. Both of them were absolutely amazing compared to my 98 Sentra which came with only A/C and nothing else. It was slowly going on the fritz since it was my first car which I got when I was 16 and drove exactly as any 16 year old does when they have a new toy. I have over 140k extremely hard miles logged, and was noticing some massive declines in everything from gas mileage to power so I figured it was for the best to get something a little bit more new and something that will not be laughed at when I pull into a job interview/actual job.

The G35 is my little masters graduation present to myself to get through a couple more years of paying off loans and such. In order to christen the car, I am planning a 1600+ mile road trip. I was wondering what kind of gas mileage I should be expecting going about 85-90. I know not be expecting the 30-35 of my Sentra, but just how low should I be expecting? Also, are there any quirks that I should be expecting with the G over such a long distance?

Going 85-90mph would probably get you 18-19 mpg and also get you a fat speeding ticket.

 

At 80MPH i usually get about 21-23MPG.

65MPH i get 25-26MPG...drops like a rock the faster i go beyond that

 

Yea your in the 21ish and under mpg area going that fast. In my 08 i set the cruise at 80 and get 23-24ish.

 

I get a pretty solid 20-21 with 80mph hwy. that's in the 5AT though, 6 speeds probably do a bit better.

Driving a 98 sentra is nothing to be embarrassed about by the way!

 

I drove from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles and back going about 63mph and got 27 mpg. Driving slow for that long made my nose bleed. I'd rather pay a couple bucks to go faster and keep my fluids.
