g35x Transmission (02/04) HELP!
Hey, so recently my cars transmission has started to slip & I took it to the best transmission shop in town & I received the horrid news that I need a new transmission * bangs head on table *. Being the broke college student that I am, I decided to go with a used one, I was doing some searches on www.car-parts.com & I found a local one for $600 with 42K miles on it & a warranty available but when I called the transmission shop they said the production dates did not match and he doesn't want to do a 12 hour job for something that might not work . My production date is 02/04 . The part states " 2004 Transmission Infiniti G35 42K 42,934 A R0724 $600" ... What am I exactly looking for most just say from 10/03 or 5/04? Is it any other month of production that is guaranteed to fit?
When I got the code read because the SES light I got P1730: Which is about some brake solenoid and other sensors, but when I took it to a reputable tranny shop he first told me he couldn't diagnose the problem. Now he is telling me I need my transmission rebuilt. It's kinda getting sketchy. I'm debating on taking it to nissan for assurance that my transmission needs to be repaired . Should I ?

Month of production is not the best way to judge.
2004.5 model year is when the AWD sedan was introduced.

2004.5 AWD Sedan
Trans Model: RE5R05A
Trans model code number: 90X84, 92X17
2005 AWD Sedan
Trans Model: RE5R05A
Trans model code number: 92X19, 90X1D
2006 AWD Sedan
Trans Model: RE5R05A
Trans model code number: 90X6D, 90X9C
I believe transmissions were split into two groups; up to 10/03, from 10/03. You should have the later model so you should be able to find something no problem.

I called an infiniti technician and they told me two models were made and the one produced after October 2003 WILL work for it.
ALSO, I found a transmission(52K Miles) on car-parts.com from NY for 262 +250 = 512 Shipped to my door & to extend the warranty for 2 years add + $50 .
OR I can get a local transmission for $600 with 42K miles and +$120 for a 1 year warranty.....
decisions
