do any sedan owners notice noise of water coming from the back wheels when driving on wet roads or when it's raining?? I hear it in my '05 and find it odd that a 35K car can't be better insulated from noise of water being splashed in the rear wheel well.

 

if you wanted a car that was silent from the outside world you should of bought a lexus. yes its normal. get a stillen exhuast, you wont hear water being splashed in the wheel well, i promise. haha

 

Now that's something I think I would have noticed. Being a Seattle G35 driver and all. Has it been raining really heavily where you are?

 

I occasionally have noticed that sound in the rain, but not always.

 

First of all, not be rude as some I have noticed in this forum, but people come here for answers. and help not smarta$$ remarks, MrBillMartin. If I wanted a lexus I would have bought one, but when one pays over 35K for a vehicle, the last thing one wants is unwarranted noises, or rattles. I don't wish to get into a war of words with you, I simply posted this because I wanted to know if this was a common trait with the G35. as all cars have their quirks. Also, not every manufacturer with build a car perfect 100% of the time and if it was a warranty issue I can take it in to have it fixed That is all.
I live in Tucson, and have noticed it everytime it rains or I go on a wet road.

i think its normal for our car. i can hear more noise from outside while driving in the rain too. My maxima is better -_-

 

I've noticed that it's louder in the car when it rains as well.

Seems that the smooth-hard plastic material they used in the wheel wells tends to amplify the sound of the water splashing (like a drum).

A sunroof also tends to bring more noise into the car when it rains.

I actually thought your comments were pretty funny but I can see how some people may be offended by them. However, on some other posts, I did talk about road noise and stated that if I had not gone for the sport lux vehicle, I personally would have chosen a Lexus ES330. I actually had looked at a then very boring looking Toyota Avalon. BUT, it is a great car as far as comfort and isolation from road noise. If you are into long roadtrips and want comfort, Toyota/Lexus has product for you...just forget about the sport aspect of driving! (I know, Avalon all restyled...still boring !) and the GS price is outta sight!

What I seem to notice is the sound of being splashed by another vehicle is more pronounced in my G. I find the G to be quiet enough though for me.

 

the deal with lexus is that their cars look too much like the toyotas. with infiniti they only slighly resemble the nissan cars. but there is no way a lexus or toyota can be as much fun to drive as our cars.

and i wasn't trying to offend chutio, its just that i dont think a car should be near to silent from the outside world. i believe you have a better perspective of the road when you hear such things as water being splashed from your tires.

 

Hmmm, Maybe Dynamat on the rear wheel plastic fender? I agree that for this kinda dough there should be better insulation/design. I have a 10 year old M3 and I am always amazed at the type and amount of insulation in the strangest places. But the car is (still) rock solid and quiet, even in the rain.

That said I think the G is about as quiet as my M3, stereos better too which may be why I THINK it's as quiet ;0/

 

Completely normal. I noticed it right away the first time I drove my '03 in the rain. My '04 isn't any different. I was actually shocked the first time I heard it and thought one, or both, of my rear windows were open.

I have to admit that I expected the G to a bit quieter inside (quite a bit of road noise too). But then again, it's not billed as a luxury car -- it's a sub-$40K sport sedan. The Stillen intake/Z-tube doesn't help matters either.

 

You want noisy? Try a Jaguar X Type. More road noise than my truck. My G isn't a guiet car especially with GY GS-D3's but it is such a joy to drive. For quiet I'd buy a Sedan Deville.
