'04 and '05

hay guys im new to the g35 scene. Im going to get a g35 in a couple of weeks, but i want to know what i should get. I got a quote on both a '04 and a '05. The '04 will be 335 for 42mo or the '05 389 for 42mo.

Which is a better deal, and what does the '05 have that the '04 does not. Both cars include the premium package.

In my opinion, the '05 is the obvious choice. The '04 is already considered to be a year old in the used-car market, and therefore has already depreciated a fair amount.

Then there are the changes that were made for the '05 model year. Some like the new styling, others don't. There's more horsepower (the increase is debateable though). The quality of the interior materials was improved. Some ergonomic improvements were made. Keyless locking and ignition was added. There are bigger wheels, tires, and brakes available.

If you were to keep either car for the same amount of time, you'll have a better resale value with the '05 being that it's newer. The improved and added features also might appeal to more people making it easier to sell the car.

Fireball,

At those payments, he is most likely leasing so the resale and percieved age of the car is not relevant in any way I can see unless he plans to buy it after the lease (a bad idea probably)..

The question is "Is there $54 per month worth of difference between the 04 and the 05?" And that is a personal choice and for me would be a tough call. Your talking about more than a 15 percent increase in his cost. that is pretty significant. That's $2100 over 42 months. I guess I would have trouble justifying the expense.

For the most part I think the 05 looks better with the painted lowers and the front end looks a little sportier. As far as the interior I've sat in both and the interior changes were not that apparent to me. I know they upgraded the materials, but unless you currently own a G35 I don't think you'll notice a huge difference. I know some people say the Titanium trim in the 03/04 Gs looks like it was painted using a can of Rustoleum, but it looks fine to me. As far as performance the new model is only a few tenths quicker according to the reviews. If it was a total redesign I'd say go for it, but the 04 sounds like the better value. Post pics when you get your new ride.

Sorry about that, it didn't even occur to me that it was a lease (those numbers could come from a good down payment).

Since it is a lease, I would also say go with the '04 unless you personally feel the '05 changes are noticeable enough to justify the extra cost. Save the $2K+ and invest it.

JCS,

Is that 335 price before taxes? How many miles and what is the upfront cost? That sounds like a pretty good deal perhaps.

PM me if you want.

Thanks,

Claire

Is there much difference (if any) in insurance between the 04 and 05 models? I would think their wouldnt be but it may be a factor for you to consider.

Since its a lease, it really comes down to if you like one model over the other more, right?
