Anyway to disconnect radio but keep A/C controls working?

So my Bose unit crapped the bed and it's permanently locked me out of my A/C controls. Is there a way to disconnect the radio but keep the HVAC controls still working?

Buy a used, working HVAC and DDin bracket from someone.

Pull the radio fuse out and your AC should still work. The fuse box is next to the battery.

I tried that and it didn't help. The HVAC controls were still inoperative. I ended up pulling out the radio and disconnecting the ribbon cable to the CD player per a thread I read here. So far the HVAC controls work but only time will tell if it really fixed the issue.

Edit: whoops iPhone decided to freeze and I didn't think my last post went through.

So is it that you cannot change the temp, or that it is locked on say a certain temp?

If you cannot change temp, replace the unit.

If it is constantly blowing hot air, check the air temp sensor by your right knee when sitting in the drivers seat (a little window). Behind it is the ambient air temperature sensor. Check the wiring or if the plug is all the way in the hole.

It's the usual problem with these radios on 2003-2004 g35's. The HVAC controls randomly turn on and you cannot shut them off because the entire center console goes blank.

Try this guy. He can fix the defective Bose unit. I was going to send him my unit but I could not find it in the basement. Maybe hurricane Sandy soaked it last year and I threw it away with many other things.

I just noticed the website is gone but you can still call him. His name is John Huang (626)757-0465. Other members have used his service before.

You can send him the Bose and AC control unit to him to repair it. I feel it's important to have the OEM unit when it comes to selling your car. Many people don't like after market radios.

The JDM setup has two individual pieces unlike the USDM which the HVAC and audio share the same circuit-board. You can find the JDM HVAC control separately.

This is true, and the DDin kit is worth plenty more that you wont get back in the end for leaving it in. Thanks for this link though!

What does that guy actually fix on the stereo? He says he doesn't even need the finisher board which infiniti had the tsb on. Is this a reliable long term fix?

The Audio finisher has nothing to do with the issue. I don't know why Infiniti thought it was. It's actually the radio itself. There are three resistors , r508, r509 and r510 that desolder themselves over time from so much heat. Resoldering or even better, replacing them with resistors that can handle more wattage solves ALL the issues with this radio and HVAC controls. It's either that or getting a DD conversion. I don't care for playing music in my car which is why I opted to disable the the CD player instead. So far everything has worked fine.
