Do some G35 sedans not come with HID's?

I bought these a while ago and dont need them anymore but I see that there was no ballast with these and that there is only a single connector for the headlights. The top bulb does not work....what do I need to do to convert the top bulb to HID?

Yes, early 2002 1/2 models did not have HID

2003 base models as well I think. ie.. 16" wheels, cloth interiors. Pretty rare

early 03 sedans do not

My old 03 was and early doggie door/old ecu sedan and it had hids. But it had the premium package that might have optioned them onto the early 03

Look at bottom of the lens on the clear portion. It will say DOT or SAE or something like that and bulb type.

D2R is the HID setup.

H1 is the base halogen headlight setup.

Wow I wasn't aware of that. Is there an easy fix for this? I'd assume you have to rewire the light to connect a ballast and HID bulb.

I don't know, however, I would think that the design of the reflector would be different with an HID vs a Halogen. It's like when you put HID "retrofit" kits in most cars, all they do is blind oncoming traffic.

I myself have an 04 Ivory Pearl 5AT Sedan. Very base, cloth interior, halogen lights, etc. I'll be replacing items like switching out to leather seats and whatnot, but sooner than later I'm wanting to upgrade the halogens to HIDs as well.
You'll need the wiring harnesses, ballasts, bulbs, and everything else that comes in a retrofit package. You can't just add the HIDs into the normal assembly cause the reflectors will cause blindness in the people in front of you and or burn down a forest!
Check out theretrofitsource.com and there are plenty of people on here who have done the same thing as well with more detailed walkthroughs.

Technically, you need an entire headlight housing from an 03/04 with HID in addition to bulbs, ballasts, etc.

Reflector housings for HID are different than reflector housings for halogen. The focal point where the light eminates from the bulb is in different spots for each lighting style. So that requires a slightly different shape to the reflector to avoid glare.

IMHO, Early G35's with HID low-beam retrofits are some of the worst glaring car's i've seen on the road.

Did some sedans not have sunroofs like the coupes?

On a bare-bones base model G35, the sunroof is an option.

Vast Majority of them came with sunroofs, but years back we've had threads asking for pics and guys would post pictures of sunroof-less G35 sedans.

Someone posted pics of a cloth-seat interior, halogen headlight with no sunroof 2003 sedan years ago. Talk about odd.

No sunroof is rare. I've only seen them in pics..and it's been quite some time.

Back in 2003 who could've ever called that specific car "luxury"?

EXTREME entry level

I bet that sedan would be light though.

Anyone looking for a track car would be excited to find one of those for sale

Why would you buy a G sedan as a track car when there are SO many better options...
