The stillen is good.You dont get the couplings on the ends just the tube.But you have the ones on the stk tube.you might gain1-2 hp.Some people say you feel it l dont know until.l pick mine up today.lt gives it a better sound.l think the G sounds good from the start! What color is your car? Mine is serengeti sand metalic.Supposed to be a rare color. And the look of the G is nice!

 

Buy a OEM z tube. You can find them cheap on ebay or here in the classifieds. I put a ztube on mine, one of the first mods I did, I sounded mean as hell. I don't think it gave any gains in HP, however. I do recommend that you keep the stock air box, at most find a 05' "rev-up" air box with the built in velocity stack. The stock box is a really good design and I should have kept mine.

If you like running in the twisties, Hotchkis sway bars are a must. You can get them new for less than $400 or find them used (recommended), they change the whole attitude of the car. Corners much flatter and you can enter corners at a much higher speed with confidence.

Although I LOVE the look of my 1" lowered car, I don't think I would do it again. The roads are just too bad here and I get a little tire wear on the inside from the need for camber correction. Not a big deal, but annoying. When you lower the car, yes, it looks badass, but you don't really gain that much in handling. You do, however, risk blowing out your OEM shocks. Mine lasted less than a year after lowering. I replaced them with Tokico d-spec adjustables. I recommend them.

Then I went for larger wheels (19" PITA to find tires) and good rubber. I love the way it drives now.

I just recently had to change all the bushings in the front, replaced with Poly bushings. Made a bid difference, but it wasn't cheap. $150 for the bushings and $650 labor.

And if you do want to lower definitely skip the spirngs/shocks and go straight to coilovers. Expensive but allows you to adjust ride height and dampening, and unless your getting your springs/shocks custom made, they'll perform better.

 

Welcome, it's a fun car. Yours looks just like mine did when it was stock.

I would recommend not throwing too much at performance at the moment. Intake/exhaust doesn't do much for our cars. Do cheap/free stuff (like removing the red lines in the reverse lights) and save your cash for the things that can/will go wrong.

Specifically, if you're still rocking the stock stereo, plan on that going out and taking the HVAC with it. That's an $800ish fix if you do it on the cheap.

Also, have the suspension checked out and expect the compression rod bushings and lower control arm bushings to be worn. I'm in the middle of that right now. I'm putting 350Z springs and shocks on it while it's apart.

If there is any shudder at highway speeds or under braking, it's likely the brake rotors. That was the first thing I changed on mine (went with cross drilled) and it was relatively cheap and easy to do, and it looks great.

I know I just threw a bunch of problems at you, but they're relatively minor and the car is totally worth it. Enjoy.

 

Yeah, WHS. I have 128K on mine and my front end bushing were totally shot. It's a huge job and the mechanic that did is said "never again". Same with the rear bearings, just had them replaced. Once you get the PM stuff done, then you can do the go fast stuff.

 

yeah it was actually inspected and detailed by the family friend who found the car for me it's running great. You were saying you put 350z springs in your car? i was thinking that as well, do you get the same 350z year as the G or what? and why is it better than the standard Gs springs?

 

Also I wanted to smoke the tail lights, i used vht nightshade before and i think i was guna go that route and do it myself, i just dont know if i should do the whole light or keep the brake lights lol

 

There's too much info to cover here, but to hit the high points, the G has the same chassis as the Z, so the suspension is a direct swap. Z springs will lower a sedan an inch or so. Most people do Z springs in front, G coupe springs in rear for an even drop. I got the Z springs for $40 off of Craigslist. There's a sticky thread in V35 tech that covers this quite thoroughly.
