!$1300 for mid pipe and muffler! 2005 g35x
hey guys
not too offten come here, but our dealer says exhaust system going bad.
this dealer is great, been servicing our car for last 10 years, no issues with price except now.
i checked online and yeah, price on parts alone around 850-900$
is this what others here have paid.
i am likely gonna have to get it done.
thanks

^this With the 13hundo you could get you a sick aftermarket setup
Please do not spend that much.
That's like the Subaru dealer over here charging $120 to rotate tires

Had the same exact issues with my coupe and I spent about ~400-500 to have it fixed. Don't spend 1300 to the dealer that's insane!
Here's what I did:
I bought a Megan HR Y-Pipe from a sponsor on here (114+Shipping).
Bought a used mid-pipe from someone local (100).
Had the muffler welded to the mid-pipe at Meineke (~100-150 I think).
Install it myself (0$)
There is an aftermarket mid-pipe made by Walker (~100 at AutoZone/Advance), but I've read kind of 50/50 on their reviews. That is why I went for a used mid-pipe.
Exhaust sounds great now.
Here is another alternative you might be able to do:
Odds are it's your flanges that are rusted out (where the pipes connect).
Head to a muffle shop and ask them to remove the flanges and replace them with sleeves. If you plan on keeping your stock exhaust then you should be fine in the long run.
