Please help with Headlight Bulb replacement
Please help with Headlight Bulb replacement
Hi all, I have a 2005 G35 base Sedan and it has HID lights. Front Left Low Beam headlight gave up recently and when i go to Pep boys, they gave me a quote of $180 to just buy & replace one HID bulb.
Is that reasonable?
Can i buy the bulb myself on Ebay and go to a body shop to get it changed?
Thanks in advance

If you just want bulbs to work....
Go to vendor marketplace, im sure there is some vendors selling bulbs. They can help you out, but off hand i believe its a D2R bulb...
Replacing it is a little bit of a challenge your first time but can be done in minutes the following... If your even semi handy with tools..
I would think the $180 bulbs are factory OeM bulbs, i would hope...but a set of aftermarket can be found for under $40.... Its been awhile since i bought mine. But if you want to keep the same look as factory, get a 5k bulb... 6k, 8k and so on get bluer the higher the kelvin.
Hope that helps...

That's about what the dealership will charge for replacement HID bulbs. We have high quality replacement HID bulbs listed here on our site for $39.99 and you should be able to install them yourself with fairly little effort: http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/l...hid-bulbs.html

Part of the issue (assuming 05 is same as 03) is that you go through the wheel well to change bulb, so a little labor intensive. I would also recommend changing all the bulbs in that fixture at this time.
I am not a diy person so my idea of "fairly little effort" is changing a Honda headlight where you raise the hood, reach in, pull back the clip and pull out the bulb.

I say it's fairly simple because you don't have to have power tools or a lift to get the job done

We don't offer 5000K, but our Kelvin scale is much whiter than many of our competitors. Here's a better comparison chart:

The lumen output depends on the ballasts driving them, along with several other factors. However, our bulbs with output 3,000 lumens, which is consistent with any high quality HID bulb.
We will have exact ratings available in the very near future, as we made a sizable investment in scientific light measurement equipment (integrating sphere, etc.)

Our HID bulbs typically last 3-5 years, and I haven't seen anyone come in with a noticeably different color.

4300k seems lot less than 6000k. Will there be a lot of visible difference between the two?
I was gonna buy the 6000k from the Diode dynamics link above.
