As the title reads, I did a oil catch can and have seen great success with it. But i am wondering if there are any other lines that would vent oil into the intake.. or is the single PCV line it?

Maxx, I believe that's the only one. PCV valve s/b cleaned every 30K miles just to make sure it's functioning correctly. A few shots of carb cleaner, then shake for a minute then blow it out. As long as you can hear it rattle when shaking it's working. There's never a reason to replace this valve since you know how to clean it...Gary

 

Ok, sounds good. The oil catch can has been a stroke of genius (that i got from a forum posts here) after 250 miles i have close to a teaspoon. I imagine it is why my plugs were fouling every 3 months and causing the ping issues.

 

Went racing.. now up way to over a tablespoon. Sloshes easily .. crazy bad oil coming out of that pcv ....

 

So 3 weeks after installing the catch can I can say it is a must for a v35 VQ block. I have enough oil in my catch to warrant emptying it. My guess is 1 cup of oil is in there.

Going to empty it the next time I'm in for a oil change and will video it out.

 

 

Max, you don't need to leave that filter in your catch can! When you remove the oil throw all the b.s. way, it's purpose is to collect oil from getting in your plenum nothing else...Gary

What oil catch can model is that?

 

Air water seperator from jerry's. 16$? can not quite remember. it is the BIIGER one... not the tiny one that would have over flowed with the amount of oil i get..

 

While nobody but you has a Jerry's nearby, the air oil separator is a great idea. Googling shows a bunch that would look great in a polished engine bay. I even saw one that might coordinate with Caribbean Blue.

ur plugs fouling every 3 months? That's not normal. Maybe your valve-covers are warping. It's made of POS plastic after all.

 

Maybe? no other oil is visible. but the second gen vq35de with the shitty OEM rings are a known issue to to allow tons of oil by.

Either way I was fouling plugs every 2 months and getting carbon on cylinder #5 and #6 leading to massive ping issues in the summer. With the catch can .. um catching ... it has been a god send. I empty it every month and so far plugs are only a tiny bit dingy.

 

There are two places for oil to enter the intake and condense. One is at the PCV on the passenger side and the other is the ventilation coming into the underside of the intake just forward of the throttle body. Here's a good general explanation: Crankcase Ventilation
