'05 performance specs?
'05 performance specs?
I'm amazed that I can't find this info anywhere on the web, so here it goes:
What is the top speed on the '05 auto sedan? (No, I haven't just taken it out and found out for myself. . . yet!) What speed can be expected with some tuning? Specifically what tuning would that be?
What about 0-60 time?
Thanks

Believe it's electronically limited to the same 145 MPH the '03 and '04 are, haven't heard otherwise. There is a photo on this website somewhere where the owner of a 5AT has it "pegged" at an indicated 144 MPH, Tachometer reading 5,800 RPM in 5th gear, I believe (have it stored on my home computer, but not my laptop here at work).
There is a rumor that the 6MT is limited to 155 MPH, haven't tried that yet (have seen an indicated 146 on mine so far, then shut her down).
My $0.02

according to technosquare, the speed limiter kicks in around 245 kph (i don't know the mph equivalent) that's also about near the limit of the speedometer
of course this doesn't take into account wind resistance, drag. etc etc
with the chip tuning you can get rid of these limits as well as boost up the rev limiter to have more power (but it's gonna take a while for technosquare to tune the chip for the 05).
I assume basic intake and exhaust mods would make acceleration faster but not sure about top speed.
I'm guessing 280 kph to be the real top speed for the sedan (it is VERY aerodynamic .26 Cd w/ the aero kit).
as for 0-60 mph time. it's around 6 seconds depending on conditions, launching etc etc.
Apparently the g35's street start time (5-60) is faster then it's 0-60. which is very unusual.

Here's something of a clue though.
2005 350Z 35th anniv edition
300hp
260lb-ft
0-60 5.6sec
0-100 13.7sec
1/4 14.1sec @101.8
March 2005 R&T
"The Z negotiated certain parts of the track effectiently, but wheezed through many of the others, as it posted the slowest lap times of the group, even with a former factory Z-car driver behind the wheel."
"The 350Z is the second-heaviest of the lot at 3370lbs. But that's where the 35th Anniversary Z's added power comes into play. The retuned 3.5 liter V-6 puts out 300bhp and 260lb-ft of torque, enabling the car to run to 60 mph in 5.6sec (.02sec. quicker then the 350Z Track Model). Observant readers will notice that the torque figure for the engine is slightly less than before. This is the reslut of revised engine mapping that, along with the extra bhp, gives the V-6 a more linear torque curve. You may also notice a slight improvement at the car's top end and a little less down low, but the general character of the V-6 remains the same; it pulls well off and runs out of breath up high."
2003 350Z
287hp
274lb-ft
0-60 5.6sec
0-100mph 14.2sec
1/4 14.3sec @100.2
And for good measure.
2003 G35 6mt sedan
0-60 5.8sec
1/4 14.3sec @100.3

Nice info:
Wow, that is a pretty big difference between the anniversary 350z and the 287hp 350z in the 0-100: (.5 second) and 1/4 traps: (1.6mph).
I'm typically pretty quick to ignore any 0-60 tests b/c launch factors just play too much of a role. Not that they are really meaningful, but I'll look at trap speed, 0-100 and dynos (obviously) for more guidance.
Seems like the new version is pulling pretty hard in the top end. But, who knows what conditions were like in the two tests...
I should be picking up my 05 6MT sedan tomorrow, can't wait...
