Quick question about the ECU Reset Procedure

I just want to know if the "ECU Reset Procedure" is the same thing as resetting the light with a OBD2 scanner?

No, it's not.

All you do when you reset the check engine light is erase codes and reset the emissions readiness monitors that require a few cycles to reset.

When you reset the ECU, you erase some of the operating parameters that the car has learned like idle, fuel and timing strategies, shift points, etc. You rest these all to factory defauts and the car "relearns" how to drive again.

I bought an 05 awd with 126k miles in February. I just read about ECU resets the other day and managed to pull it off. I started immediately driving very aggressively in manu-matic mode around town. Hoping it will relearn in racecar mode I gotta say... Night and day difference! Right when the novelty of having a fast car was starting to wear off this ECU reset has reignited my excitement for driving it and then some! Do it for sure if you haven't folks. A few tips that helped me where noticing that right when you turn the key to the proper spot your car will ding 5 times. Do the pedal pumps to the dings. Its ok to complete 5 pumps before the 5 seconds. Just dont start counting to 7 untill that 5th ding. Cheers btw...Im new to the forum and you guys seem awesome.

and it is quite different among ECU reset and fault code reset
For fault code reset, cheap obd scanner will do it
But for ECU reset, you need ecu tuning kit, kess, Fgtech galletto etc
