2005 G35x Manu-matic Working Intermittently

For the last few months I've had an issue with the manual shifting on my auto trans. Seems like when it's hot, it doesn't allow me to shift manually.

Thoughts? It's a 2005 G35x with about 133K miles on it.

Thanks,
George

Take her to the dealer. there are a number of points that break and wear in the manual shifting. you'd need to be a expert multimeter user and have a very good idea on reading schematics to resolve it on your own.

Check your codes. I have the same issue, the manual mode is intermittent. I had a check engine light checked at some point and there was another code for a switch that seemed to be related to the manual mode shifting. I never actually looked into fixing it. But I think replacing the shifter assembly might be the solution.

Sounds like the suggestion of not using it is gonna be the most economical. I'm sure the stealership would love to throw some billable hours on the diagnosis and fix.

Odds are it's the shifter unit itself. If you are good with a multimeter you can troubleshoot it, but it will be a little tedious to trace out wires and test.

If you can get a shifter unit for cheap (junkyard or ebay) i'd try swapping it out. Most of the times, when guys post about manumatic issues here, it's a shifter issue.

Personally I never use the flipping thing. No Clutch...no Care.
