shock mounts

Does anyones know if the shock/strut mounts in the front of our G35s can creat clunking noises? I had my original suspension replaced(no luck) and a mechanic thinks its the mounts now. the sound seems like its coming from up high or bumps esp at slow speed. I bought the new mounts and they dont look like they could make a clunking sound. there are no bearings inside, and im being quoted 180 to swap them. I dont even think its worth it now, also ive checked compression rods end links several times they check out fine. can old strut mounts somehow make clunking noises on our cars?

Was the noise there before you had your suspension replaced? If the top nut isn't tight enough they can make clunking noises. Get a deep well 19MM I think and try tightening the nut while the car is on the ground.

yes the noise was there before i had them changed, 2 different mechanics have tightened the nut however they may have not done something right.
