CV Boot Removal Front PASS side - inner

Hello.

I noticed yesterday that the CV boot is torn and i found a new CV boot kit.

Was wondering how hard would it be to separate the inner bearing off from the axle shaft once the axle is removed?

Would i need any special tools? IS there any trick to this?

The axle is in the good shape and not clicking so don't want to spend 300 for a new one.

Thanks guys

Rebuilt ones are 66.79 on Rockauto.com with no core. A little bit cheaper if you do the core. I'd just get a replacement. It's just alot of work to replace the boot. I just did my driver side, sent my core back 55.00 in total plus shipping. Just my 2 cents

Yea just replace it or go to a shop that specializes in it. We have a shop locally here that all they do is rebuild them. Did my passenger side on on Wednesday. Paid 110 installed.

I replaced my passenger inner boot recently because I didn't know you could get rebuilt axles. It was easy using the DIYs from this site. But I probably paid $20 for the boot and it took me at least a couple of hours to remove the bearing, grease it up and put it back together and you probably don't have the exact boot pliers to crimp the clamp.... if I had to do it over and axles are $66, I'd get a rebuilt one. Then you know you have two new bearings and boots and grease.

The inner boot doesn't actually have a bearing inside.

My pass axle inner boot recently failed. Since I too my merry time and waited 1 YEAR before getting around to replace it, I opted to do the entire axle since it was $50.

Popped the old axle out, slide the new one in...and that was it. No problems since
