Weird suspension

Hi new to the forum. I've searched for hours across the net and can't find an answer for my question. I have a 2004 G35x sedan. I had the VIN ran at the dealer because none of the standard '04 G35x suspension parts matched. It came up showing I had a "sport" or "track" edition. I finally found a "lower control arm" from an '05 the matched up. Did they switch the track edition parts to the standard g35x in '05? I have a terrible rattling sound and I've replaced the strut and the LCA to no avail. Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated. TIA

I can't comment on the specific suspension set-up, but I recall reading somewhere that there's no such thing as a "track" edition.

Either way, check your compression rod bushings.

Sport, at least on 05, was a vlsd, stiffer springs and shocks and 18" wheels and tires. I dont believe they offered it on the x. Have you replaced the compression rod bushings?

Ok cool I think it was the sport edition. I'll check those for sure. Thanks!

Yeah I'm not sure. This is my first Infiniti. I believe it is the sport edition according to VIN. It's definitely got '05 X parts for suspension. I'll check those bushings. Thanks.

That's not good as the X is AWD. You might want to double check and verify as this could cause problems. I don't think the X control arms, compression rods, etc are interchangeable.

Mine is a G35X except it's an '04. It's definitely AWD. The compression rod is what I was calling a lower control arm. At least according to the pictures that come up on google. I replaced them already. My compression rod matched that of a 2005 G35x sedan. the 2004's had a different style than mine. Basically, I kept going from website to website till I found one that matched and according to the website, it belonged on an '05.

Just read from an old car magazine website that in '04, the sport edition did have an awd option and shared suspension with the 350Z. Maybe this will answer some of my questions. As far as rattling, I guess I'll throw it up on the Jack stands and see if I can find the problem.

Check your end links if they break they can cause some rattling. make sure everything is tight. check all bushings and make sure none are torn or bad.
