Hey all. Newbie here for automobile repair. I am a IT nerd with 0 skills under the hood.

Recently my 03 g35 sedan felt like something was stuck under the shift ****. Following a DIY I removed the clips and popped open the center console. I noticed this...

I had tried putting it back together and the key is stuck in the ignition and the car is stuck in park permanently.

The tail lights still turn on when I press the brake as I was told it could be the release for the brake.

I'm a student on financial aid and looking for the smartest and most pragmatic fix possible. I towed it to a shop and got the instant 700 bill for the replacement. Anyone have any guidance?

I have a 2005 auto shifter which I had removed last year from my car which is in good shape. Not certain if it will fit an '03 though. Let me know if you're interested and we can work on the $$$.
