225 Front 245 Rear on Sedan?

Hey guys!
So I know there's lots of threads on this but no one seems to have concrete answers. I'm looking at a cheap set of coupe wheels and tires 225/45/18 front, 245/45/18 rear. Does anyone know for certain that this setup is clear for fitment, but most importantly does it interfere with VDC? Is there a way to disable VDC permanently I mean come on who actually drives with it on
Cheers
Josh

IIRC...as long as you stay within a certain percentage amount of overall diameter you should not have any issues with triggering the VDC. See the calculation below and you will see the difference in these two sizes is minimal.

I didn't know the % difference was so small between the two, thanks for the post! Any idea at what % VDC kicks in?

I think this thread has some good info. When searching I have seen more than one person say 3% should be safe. But as it also says in there, you could also run a 245/40 and it makes the difference even less.

I just traded a sedan guy wheels and I had those same specs I have a couple). Looked absolutely perfect on his sedan. Super flush with the fenders. He had rolled fenders tho, so not sure if that's an issue for you.

It's not so much the VDC you are concerned with, but the ABS. If you exceed a certain percentage of difference between front and rear, the ABS errors and disables itself. So yes, while you may not be so concerned with the VDC not working, you may want the ABS to work.

I cannot find the actual difference in diameter allowed by the computer before the ABS and VDC disable. Most vehicles out there tend to have a limit of 3%. Not quite sure if this applies to the G35 as well.

Bigger issue is AWD. This is not an AWD sedan right?

I run 225/35 front and 245/35 rear. No issues. Used to run 215s in the front also without any problems. Youre fine. If it is an X, you might run into issues.

That's a good point I didn't think about the ABS. Experienced driver or not ABS is a nice luxury to have haha. My sedan is only RWD. I bought the wheels and tires today, more out of curiosity than anything! I'm test fitting them tomorrow and will see how they affect the car. Thanks for the help guys!

Did you have to modify anything to get the 245's to fit the rear end of your sedan?

In that case, that difference is ~1%. I wouldn't even worry about it. Toss em on and go

Thumbs up Pulled the trigger

I finally found time to do some test fitting after pulling the trigger on the staggered coupe setup for the sedan (225/45/18) front (245/45/18) rear. Found them dirt cheap as well
Mounted them (please forgive the depressingly high stock ride height which will be remedied soon) and front clearance was no issue, even when fully turned in each direction. The rear clears at the stock ride height but the quarters need to be rolled to for the tires to tuck under spirited driving conditions.
Thankfully VDC was no issue whatsoever. Thank you to those of you who cleared up my many questions on the coupe wheel setup for the sedan.
*some pictures for your enjoyment*

Stock 17's on winters

Coupes 245's on Bridgestone summers

Lots of clearance for daily driving but anything spirited starts to rub
