Hey I could use some help
Hey I got a question for you on Sunday I got in the G and while driving I had a issue the car won’t go over 40mph when I press on the gas almost like it’s stuck in 1st gear also the RPM shoot up real high but that car doesn’t go any faster now when I floor the gas it changes gear but the rpms jump over 5000 and the car gives a hard jurk when it hit the gas hard and it changes gear I looked it up says maybe the trans is skipping or the MAFS could be bad I’m not sure .. do you have any idea of What it could be .. PS I got a coda P0171 - system bank 1 too lean and back 2 is also too lean

You might be looking at 2 separate issues but it would help us to know more about your car. What year, coupe or sedan, how many miles 5AT or 6MT and have you done any engine work lately on it? Assuming it's a first gen vehicle you only have 1 MAF. The solution could be as simple as a dirty MAF. Go get a can of CRC MAF cleaner at the auto parts store or Wally World, remove the MAF from the intake and liberally spray the wire. Make sure you unplug the MAF before you mess with it, the spray will evaporate and there's no need to wipe anything up. Be careful you don't touch or bother the wire in there or you might ruin the MAF. There is a lot of info on the forum on the P0171 code, here's another helpful post I found while searching:
The transmission is a trickier issue to diagnose, assuming it's an automatic you might try a drain and fill to see if new fluid helps the issue. To me it sounds more serious than that but I'm not a mechanic and the rough running might be related to the P0171 code.
If you unplug the MAF it should run pretty badly in a rich default mode and set all your engine lights off. The ECU just looks to see if the MAF is putting out a reading not a *correct* reading. I was told by an Infiniti tech if you unplug your MAF and it the air to fuel ratio goes +25% then the problem is probably your MAF. If it doesn't then you can have a vacuum leak causing the lean condition.
I was getting the P0171 condition on my 06 coupe for a very long time and did all kinds of troubleshooting. Cleaned and even replaced my MAF sensor which didn't help and I was out 250 bucks for a brand new part. Swapped out my O2 sensors, which didn't help.
I finally made a DIY smoke machine and found a huge leak at the brake booster o-ring. Sealed that up and the code went away and everything returned to normal.
*If you do want to replace your MAF sensors I have two I can sell you cheaper then the dealer. One is brand new OEM and the other is used.
I'd invest in a decent OBD scanner and program that can troubleshoot your code if you want to save money. I use Kiwi from PLX Devices and Torque Pro on my Android for quick scans and information. I pull out a Chinese Consult III clone when I want to go more in-depth.

I had the transmission in my son's car rebuilt, it was toast in 4 months and he was 1400 miles away from the shop that did the work. By "changed" that could mean a rebuild or a used one put in. Usually if the MAF is bad the engine won't really get above 20000 rpm or will really struggle to get there.
