Replace stock resonator with 6" x 14"

I want to replace the stock resonator but it must be stainless steel. Magnaflow has a 6" x 14" 2.5" inlet (round body) I am wondering if this will fit ok or will it bang on the heat shield because it is 6" in diameter? There is also a 4" x 14 2.5" but might be a little small. What would be the difference in sound between a 4" and 6" muffler?

Thumbs up Middy resonator 101

The OEM stock Coupe middy w/resonator (fits sedan perfect) dimentions are very close, if not the same, as the Mag. So, all that being said, if ya wanna spend the extra money ....cool beans. Your question about the heat shied is valid BUT, not a problem. The heat shield is the same gage as frigg'n tin foil, so it can be bent to whatever degree you wish. Or you can do what I did and take your Dremmel tool ( with cutting wheel attached) underneath the car and route out that 2" or 3" small contact area in about 10 seconds. Then you too can impress friends and relatives with how **** you are. LOL JBX By the way....you'll gain little (just a few throaty dbs.) in the sound dept. with just this mod. alone...........

I was hoping to get a a lil deeper/louder sound than the coupe midpipe and stock muffler. If I went with the 4 x 14" do you think it would start getting raspy in the high end? Also the 4" will probably avoid any heat shield issues? Anything longer is aluminum. 4x18 AND 4X22
