2009 G37. Fuel gauge is mis-reading. Showed just under half tank and I ran out of gas. What can I do to fix it?

Follow the troubleshooting steps in the FSM
In the meantime fill tank, set odometer to zero
When odometer reads 300 miles, refill tank
