Hypertech Sport Tuner

I just re-programmed my G with a Hypertech Sport and WOW, what an improvement! I already had a Motordyne 5/16", modified intake with K&N & Z-tube (& added coolant through throttle body restrict), grounding and axle-back free flow. As well I like rear-wheel drive and "temporary" disconnected AWD. Big low end mid improvement over stock. I only use the manual shift method and find it is much smoother as well. Basically it feels like a different car! It was worth the $600cdn (tax in) for the tuner. I may upgrade to full cat-back and headers.

The Osiris tune from Uprev is a far superior choice than the Hypertech at around the same price. Offers a lot more options/features and is recommended by a majority of the members here. Plus we have an active member who's the forum's Uprev guru (seymore4), he's a great guy and very helpful.

But I'm glad you like the Hypertech results.

I do not have experience with tuning and would have to pay someone to help me with it. I am in Canada and when I searched for dealers/tuners for Uprev, only locations were in the US. I tried to find a local tuner but the only one for my car was in Quebec (again, more expensive) and not Uprev. The Uprev is more expensive by $400 cdn not including the brokerage, taxes, shipping. I actually did not know about the Hypertech until 3 weeks ago. I am not sure how I missed that one. I have had my G for over 3 years.

When I got into the G35 platform the first thing I did was research tuners since I planned on going FI. Really the only options for setting timing and fuel come down to Piggy back (Utec/Greddy/FIC6) or reflash stock ecu options (Uprev/romraider). The Hypertech doesn't allow you to change any of that but has it's own tunes for certain / specific upgrades. Probably just changes the timing a degree or two at key on like you can do with Nissan Data Scan II software and OBD cable. I would love to play with the hypertech and datalog it or run it on a dyno to see real results.

vstring you can get what's called an e-tune from seymore3. You send him a list of your mods and he'll e-mail you the tune you can install from your laptop to the OBDII port. I used to swear by a trip to the tuner and tuning on a dyno but it's really not necessary unless you have very specific needs. It wouldn't hurt for you to PM seymore3 to get a price quote. You'll more than likely keep the Hypertech tuner but you'll at least have an accurate picture of what Uprev will do and cost if you decide to go that route down the road someday.

Good advice, and would always be able to grow with it. With the Hypertech you can never go FI / Big cams or anything fun, UpRev Standard for $550 includes: 1 Interface Cable, 1 UpRev Re-Flash license, 1 Base Tune, and 3 eTune adjustments. But again he says there is duty fees and such that would add to the price... Have to pay to play I guess.
