Brand new owner of an 04.5 with question

yes i have auto.. but i was wondering if your running at about 40mph and you accidentally hit the tiptronic shifter down, will if downshift into first forcing the car to slam into the rev limiter?

or is the car protected form this

The computer is pretty smart. It won't allow you to change into a gear that will cause the engine to overrev.

I have an auto 05 and when you are in D and switch over to MM, it will be in the gear you are in or down shift to 4. So if you are doing 70 and switch to MM, the auto down shifts to 4. I was used to another model with MM and I was used to switching over to MM and hitting it to down shift. I had to get used to the G since when doing this at 80 I found myself in 3rd gear pretty fast....

The car's rev limitier prevents you from over revving the car... It will also not allow you to shift into 5th untill you are at least 35 MPH on a flat road...

How about switching to MM from D & forgetting you're in Manual after you come to a stop. First gear redlnes very fast & it is quite embarrassing.
Of course I've never done that.

LOL, I just did that yesterday. I was expecting my G to shift from 1st to 2nd gear by itself, like my bros Acura TL does, but found myself at 6,000 rpms very fast and felt very stupid. haha. Imma just leave it in D.
