SES (CEL) Light issue + instrument cluster

Finally got the time to post this question.
Here is the video of what I'll be talking about. (Link to video)

Just recently pass smog on the second try. The problem with failing the first time was that the SES (CEL) light won't turn on when I turn on (before crank) the car. Though pushing the instrument cluster in certain way would make it turn on again.
Its well known that the cluster on this car has tons of issues which includes, inaccurate fuel gauge, turn signal goes out, trip meter display go out, but seems like no one ever mentioned about SES light not turning on.

- I've checked the connection to the instrucment cluster before and they weren't loose
- Changed to new battery a month ago
- Even the dealership said its the issue with the cluster

The question is, what exactly in the cluster that went bad? Is it loose solder of the LED chip or something else? Would like to fix it myself after reading horrible post about sending it to other repair shop and they did not fix it properly...

Its either the LED on the cluster or a cracked solder joint somewhere on the board.

I have a cluster with an intermittent parking brake light. Sometimes it will illuminate when I press it and sometimes it wont. I thought the LED was bad so I bought a new LED and soldered it in but it still does the same thing. Im guessing it a solder joint somewhere on the board thats gone bad. Dont know where though cause theres about a million of em on there. And if the light doesnt illuminate and I give the instrument cluster a little tap then it will come on.

Nissan electronics = Garbage!

Kind of tempted to buy a part of cluster and try to learn how to fix my own. The only issue is finding the schematics to understand the layout. Or I wonder does putting the PCB into the oven to reflow the solder might work?

I also thought about doing this but was afraid the plastics that house the gauge motors might melt or become deformed.

I did go over the entire board slowly with a heat gun and that didnt help either.

I currently have my bike apart in my garage, but once I finish that up then I will get back to experimenting on the G.

You are suppose to only put the PCB into the oven right? Hope I can find a junkyard or part out one to practice on.
