I am getting the car around June or July, so do you think I should wait a bit and get the 06 or get the 05 in June or July? The 03 to 04 models had extremely minor changes. The big “refresh” (read - interior updates) happened for the 05-model year. I wouldn't expect much change for the 06 models over the 05. The big change will most likely come in 07. That's just the way the industry works.

If you buy the 05 in September or October you'll get the best deal. It will also be the end of that model year and will depreciate faster than a new 06 model that will be available about that time.

Yep, cars usally have a 4 year life cycle (most of the time)... First two years are usally identical, then they change it up a little for the 3rd year (usally new bumpers, rims, cosmetic stuff like that, in case of the G35 it got more HP), 4th year is usally identical to the 3rd year...

so we should see a all new G35 come 2007...

Any model that you get off of their lot has probably been floored at one point or another. I know since each G35 or 350Z I've test driven at the dealer, they all tell me to go ahead and give it some gas to test the acceleration. Only way to get one that hasn't been tested hard is to have them order one from the factory. In which case you may not be able to get at the end of the 05 year.

Which has made me wonder for some time. Why even bother with a break-in period when the dealer tells you to flog the car during the test drive.

if you look early enough, i don't think that every model on the lot has been floored, just mainly the cars set aside for test drives. there are tons of members on this forum who took delivery of their cars with under 6 miles on them. mine still had the factory plastic on the outer panels and seats and had ~4 miles on it. so you don't need to order one from the factory to get a "new" car. sure that would be the safest route, but you could also check which cars on the lot don't have an ungodly amount of miles on it for a "new" car. good luck!

Almost all Nissan products arrive on the lot with anywhere from 5 to 7 miles on them.

After considerable research I've concluded that you will have very little chance of getting a "gay car" if you buy a G35. Based on the cartalk web site poll on the ultimate "gay cars", it appears that the G35 sedan has neither to political correctness of a Subaru nor the panache of a Merc or BMW to qualify as a "gay car". Of course, the exception to the above is any convertible, but alas that too leaves the G35 unqualified. So, regardless to your sexual leanings, you should be advised; the G35 is most certainly not a "gay car".

Disclaimer, I don't know about the coupe. It's got a lot of flair. It could be a "gay car".

At my dealership there were 'set-aside' models for us to test drive. I didn't drive the car I intended to buy until right before we signed the papers. It seemed odd at the time - buying a car that I hadn't driven yet, so we took it for a nice cruise. It had 6 miles on the ODO.

I'd agree that we'll probably see a restyle of the G in the next couple of years..

Buy what you want when you want. There are times of the month and even times of the year that you'll do better on price and selection (depending on what you want). The question I'd have to ask is how patient are you.

I shopped my G starting with the 03 model year and didn't bite until the 05 hit the streets. The fruit had to ripen a bit. hehe..
