The only thing about the new '05 6MT's that turns me off a little bit is the increased weight.

'05 G35 6MT 3,512 lbs
'04 G35 6MT 3,389 lbs

But I guess that all comes from the bigger wheels/tires, bigger brakes, thicker sway bars, additional interior stuff(?). Plus the increased output of the new 298 hp motors should comepensate for the additional weight.

 

Yeah, it's pretty simple. Press and hold the trip odometer button until you see a four-digit number display. (It'll be 8000 if this feature hasn't been jacked with yet; setting it there or above disables the upshift light. Or maybe it's 7900. Check your manual.) When you're there, press the button to change the upshift light setting. If you want to break-in the engine per Infiniti's recommendations, set it at 4000 rpm. After a few seconds it'll take; you can then press it again to get back to your two trip odo readings.

The REV light (IMHO worst label ever for an upshift light; I thought something was wrong with reverse the first time I test-drove an '05 6MT) has a little red square that'll blink 500 rpm before setpoint. It goes solid when it reaches setpoint. I find it goofy but fun. I'm sure this is precisely how Michael Shumacher got his start reading upshift LEDs on his Momo. Baby steps...
