Hello to all. I just got back from my local Infiniti dealership and wanted to know what you think about this deal. Here's the deal...

The lease on my 2002 Nissan Altima is up August 1. Infiniti told me that they will eat my 2 payments @ 400/month = 800/month total, cutting my fees to $1150.

Monthly payments-
G35X @ 39 months, 12k miles, w/premium package and Navigation system = $534/month

The salesman called me on my way home from the dealership and said that he spoke to the manager and offered me this deal..

G35X @ 42 months, 12k miles, w/premium package and Navigation system = $497.

They just divided the residual by 42 months instead of 39 months, dropping the lease payments by $37/month.

Is it good or am I getting screwed. Do you think I can get them to go lower? Personally, I think it's a sweet deal, but then again, I'm not good with this stuff. Thanks for any input you can give me!

Ya beat me to it. mhollinger. This provides good info!
If you stay focused on the $ down & the monthly payments, it becomes a shell game of you trying to guess at what you do not know.
More importantly, what is the cap cost of the vehicle? (~selling price).
On a lease, you negotiate the capitalization cost (~selling price), and if your credit is 710 or above you instruct them to write the lease @ their buy rate.
Leases are comprised of two basic primary portions of $.
1) The amount you pay for your use of the car ($ down & monthy payments)
Any negotiations affect this portion.
2) The residual. The amount you pay if you choose to buy the car @ the end of the lease. This is a fixed amount (% of the MSRP). Negotiations do not affect this portion.

Mileage variances should not affect whether you got a good deal or not, but do affect the residual and consequently 1) the amount you pay for the use of the car.

Ask to read a lease contract before you sign it to better understand.
