It sounds like you have an air leak between the MAss Airlfow sensor and the throttle body.

What you are describing happens to all Mass air cars if there is a large air leak.

Sounds to me like you didn't plug you MAF sensor plug back in and not all the way. Remove it, inspect the terminals, and try again.

A vacuum leak is another possibility, though the black smoke indicates a super rich fuel mixture which tells me the MAF isn't working right. Even without the MAF, the car will run, but will run badly.

If all else fails, take the Z pipe off and reinstall everything. Take your time and verify everything is secure, tight, and plugged in.

No, it's perfectly normal behavior - why would you want to get it checked out?

When you say "Swisscheese" what do you mean by that? Did you poke a bunch of holes in your Z-tube or something?

If I am reading this correctly, it sounds like you put a bunch of holes in your Z-tube.

If this is true, then you need to stop driving the car until you can replace the z-tube (maybe put your stock air tube back in?). With these holes you are defeating the purpose of having an airbox all together, as who knows what you are letting into your engine!!

Any holes you make must be in the airflow path before the air passes through the filter. Good luck, and at the very least a throttle body cleaning is in order.

I'd also like to add that if you did drill holes in your z-tube that you really need to take the time to understand what you are doing before you do it.

You should have been asking yourself "if I am drilling holes in the z-tube, and the air is coming from the airbox+filter...why do I even need an airbox?"

Don't drive it like that or you'll probably foul the O2 sensors, amongst other things. Fix the leaks and the airbox, check all connections and clamps and try again.
To reset the ECU CEL light, do a reset described in our DIY/FAQ.
If all else fails, have the dealer look at it.

I can't imagine someone would be stupid enough to drill holes in the Z pipe. I guess anything is possible.

if you really want to get some air in there. get a "hoodspacer", and swiss cheese the pleneum too. youll see mad gains.

a ruf porsche. thats special edition from germany. Really Unbelivebly Fast.

btw you shouldn't drive fast in school zones, i think they double the points for the tickets.

goodluck with your cheese.
