I have a MT and I normally notice the said sound in the morning, after I back out of the garage and engage 1st gear. The sound only last for a second or so.

It's normal for 6MT's also.
Scared me the first time I touched the brakes as it initialized its self-test -- thought I drove over a rock or something.

As everyone else said, it is the breaks adjusting... I believe it is mentioned in the owners manual (just to set anyones mind at ease).

Gruoushhh sound
Damn... Glad to know what was causing that noise. Mine does it when I back out of driveway right after I shift into drive and start to accelerate.

I've heard the same thing on a few G35 loaners too.

Almost sounds like some kind of fluid squirting thru a tube under the hood somewhere.

I am happy to see that it's normal.
