Anyone running illegal tint? In Virginia I can go 50 front and 35 back. Does anyone have a 50 front 50 back sample? I've seen cars here that are running 35 all around, but I wonder if the cops pull cars just for tint issues.

Geez, 50? Is that even much more than factory tint is? I think that would make the car look "uneven".

You may think that 50% is not dark enough, but it does wonders, believe me. If the sun is beating down on me on the driver's side and I roll up my window, it's a very dramatic difference. Much cooler and much more comfortable.

I had started a similar thread a few days ago there may be some more pics there. I recommend for newbies who have never had tint go with 35% in the front, 20% in the back. I have 5% all around right now on my old car and it is DANGEROUS at nite I can not see at all, and usually roll down my windows to see. I agree I look like an 16 yr old gangster out to go pick up some "hoes" in that car and kinda regret it now. It looks cool but I think 35/20 is a better more "legal" look. Also I'd say if you live in a metro area darker tint probably won't be as worrysome for being pulled over, but in a rural area I would definitely go legal limit since state patrol seems to enjoy having nothing better to do than pull you over and check with a light meter.

I too was thinking 35% all around,but seeing ABQ's pics..I can see right through them...I would prefer 20% all around, but am afraid to get pulled over and I just don't want the hassle of that. Is there an inbetweener from the 35%-20%??

35% all around.... I prefer this look then something like 50/20 which disrupts the flow fo the car... Whatever you do keep it the same tint on all the windows, looks so much better that way..

And yes 35% in daylight you can see into the car..

For camparison I did 20% On my roadster and its really dark... Im not worried about cops with my roadster because I only drive it with the top down so I went with the dark tint..

As you can see in the picture even 20% you can still see in, so unless you want to go limo tint your not going to have 100% privacy

I mean also you can get reflective tint as well so 35 can look darker than it really is. I mean honestly you want privacy and that's not going to happen. The difference between 35 / 20 is easy to tell to a trained eye (cop for instance) especially when rolling your window down. A friend of mine has 20 on his car when 32 was the limit in GA, had no probs till one day he rolled down the window near a cop and bam 200 buck ticket or something. I'd say honestly get a nice 35% stick it legal, plus if u have a black car it may look darker than it really is.

Well..the privacy thing isn't much of a biggie to me..but rather I'd like to keep some sunlight out, so the A/C isn't running full blast where I can't feel the difference. Also would like to keep the leather away from sunlight. They do have 30% though?

Here's sample of protection for metalic window tinting. As you can see there's not much difference in protection from the sun, the only real difference is how much light is passed thru the window.. So 35 tint would protect your car just as well as 10 tint...

VLT = Visible Light Transmittance
SER = Solar Energy Rejection
VLR = Visible LIght Reflected
UV = UV Rejection

Window_Film VLT SER VLR UV
35 Tint --- 34% 48% 8% 98%
30 Tint --- 26% 48% 6% 98%
10 Tint --- 11% 54% 5% 98%

yep keg is right, if you care about the heat, you want to get some of the nicer tint which is more heat reflective than darker, so you can both be legal and then get in a cooler car. Plus when you walk close to your car hold down unlock on your fob and open the windows :-P Quick cooldown haha. But I think Formula ONE isn't bad tint got a quote on that here and researched it, its approved by skin cancer doctors so all the bad UV / heat prob it can block out.

A lot also depends on the interior color, on my '04, I had graphite, so the tint looked darker than with the stone. And I agree with G35keg keep the tint consistent whatever you choose!
