On skeleton_cru's car (and a few others), I've noticed that the rear emblem is different from the majority of other G's. Is that an aftermarket emblem or does it come stock on the older models? I know it's different on the '05 models.

 

You basically answered your own question. I comes like that for 2003 G35 sedans.

The "doggie door" was not popular with buyers and it was part of the changes that made a 2003.5 model change necessary.
