testdrive #2 of the g35x

"Holy Crap," as Frank Barone would say.

Yes, our SECOND testdrive, and the sales guy pulls out a few more stops.

We liked Al from the start. He's this no nonsense kind of guy. And he KNOWS how to map out a test drive route to show off this vehicle. No doubt the free-est reins given of any testdrive we've done of any vehicle.

But today, an extra special treat.

With all the housing development going on, it was easy for him to locate a new sidestreet that dead-ends and has no houses what-so-ever. No current construction going on; nobody, no vehicles - just us and ours.

First, just a nice accel. to 40 mph and a HARD break through a minor curve to demonstrate the control you have during breaking. Fine. No biggie.

But THEN he says, in the wide spot in the road up ahead, make my U-turn to go back out to the main road, and TRY - just TRY - to break it loose.

So, I coast at 20-25mph, fade a bit to the right to begin my U-turn to the left, no braking; at about 90 degrees into the tightest circle it will give me, I FLOOR it. Instant power, but then instant moderation right to the edge - but not over - of breaking traction. I do for that brief moment detect things going on that I've not felt before in a car; fantastic. I quickly negotiate the last 90 degress of the U-turn under complete control and everything rockets back to full throttle as I'm now on a straight vector back to the main road.

"Holy Crap." I think I might have even said it out loud.

-Chris

Nice ride bro. and that was VDC that cut in on your power turn. A great system.

You mean to say that the salesman went with you on your test drive?

For my test drive it was just me and the G35X, I was gone for a good 45 minutes.

You can sign-up for an 'extended test drive' (up to a half a day) at any Infiniti dealership. This all provided your serious and that you've taken an escorted initial test drive. No big deal...........enjoy

I was not aware of the 'extended test drive' policy. I just thought it was my good credit score and the fact that I had a VPP number.
