Drivers side vent

How can I remove the drivers side AC vent (closest to the door).

The thing creaks like crazy, i have tried padding it to no avail. Pushing on it stops the creak.

That is weird because mine also on the same side. I have heard several other members having the exact problem. Let me know how you fix it.

Mine is doing the same thing and I only have less than 800 miles on mine. I hate to take the car back and leave it at the dealership all day just to fix this. If someone has a good idea for a fix please post it. Thx.

Mine was creaking slightly...I went inside and got a peice of self-stick Velco (the soft side, not the hook side) and stuck it on the outboard side of the vent. It was black, so it matches the interior, I trimmed it to match the curve, so it's not unsightly. It adds just enough extra material that the door presses hard enough against the end of the dash to stop the squeek. (as is clearly intended by the design of the padding on the door).

Now I just have to figure out how to get rid of the creak in the B-pillars. I may have to take it to the dealer for that one though.

It sounds like just about everyone has the creak (I have an '05 sedan). I also have it and it's nerve-racking! But, I'd rather pinpoint the problem before I even let the dealer take the car apart looking for the source of the creak. Though, I'm wondering if it's really the vent. One day, I had my leg leaning against the door, and I don't know what caused me to move my leg while driving, but I noticed the creaking stopped. So, as I drove along further, I could stop the creaking "on demand" by pushing against the door handle. As soon as I stopped leaning on the door handle, the creaking started. Right now, I think it may be due to the door and the vent area rubbing together...or, another possibility I'm leaving open is something loose inside the door.

I'm still looking into it, but if anyone else has had the creak fixed...please share your solution. I'm interested in seeing what the majority of people have done alleviate this problem.

imnohero...we must have been writing our post at about the same time. What you did with the velcro is something that I'm thinking of trying. I think it's the rubbing as well.

FrizzleFry...I just reponded to you other post about the your service appointment. Let us know how the new vent works out. I'm very interested in knowing if it's any better before I have the dealer replace it. Thanks.
