satellite radio option-who got XM vs who got Sirius
i choose XM because the play list goes deeper than sirius. Just for the heck of it I got a 3 day trial on my computer with Sirius and felt they played stuff I have heard over and over. With XM I hear songs I haven't heard in years.
i have sirius in my G and i love it because they have good music and i love maxim radio and also howerd stern is going to sirius. also xm has more channels but both sirius has just has much music channels.
I got Sirius, I've been listening to it since Dec '04 and love it. I have read pro's and con's about both services and I have heard that XM compresses their signal more and it sounds a little worse than Sirius. I don't know if this is true, just what I read.

Now, Sirius compresses their talk radio and it sounds like a tin-can IMHO. Big difference for XM. However, AM radio is better than either.

Just easier. The Tao took 3 minutes to install, and yeah, while you don't use the factory deck for control, you can also do cool stuff with the aftermarket that you can't do with the OEM XM (stock ticker, info tracker, song select, artist select, record/replay etc etc etc). For more info, visit my website (I'm not going to tell you how to get there), or www.xmradio.com By the way, the reason why I chose the Tao is because its shock proof, so if it flies off my desk/dash/dropped, its shockproof.
I also have the factory XM. Been XMing for over 3 years now. We all love the programming. We have 3 units in the family. The factory G unit has the worst reception. Next dealer visit, I'm going to ask them to check it.
We have XM. I didn't necessarily *want* XM, but it was on the only 6MT/Premium car in the state, so I took it.
Before then, I had been trying to decide between XM and Sirius for a long time. I'm a huge football fan, and can't stand baseball, so I wanted Sirius. OTOH, XM has my favorite show ( paun finebaum ), but it's only 1 of the show's 5 hour broadcast schedule. The problem is, I have horrible AM reception near me home, especially after dark in the winter months, so having at least part of his show picked up by XM was a huge bonus.
I have to say that I love the variety. Besides football and sports talk, I listen to some heave ****. And XM channel 48 plays a great selection of the heavy stuff.
However, I am very disappointed by the quality. I've not heard Sirius, but the quality of the talk stations, like ESPN radio, on XM is just horrible. It sounds like a low quality stream over the web. And the music isn't much better. To me, it sounds like I'm listening to it through one of those cardboard paper towel cones. Overall, I extremely dislike the bose system, but the sound quality I am getting from XM seems to be a stream/broadcast limitation as opposed to the head-unit. Overall, it's far away from what XM advertises as "crystal clear."
Even with the quality problems, I still think it sounds better than FM. All the local FM stations have huge problems with both stereo channels phasing in and out. I don't have that problem with XM.
