It's not continuous, so you probably won't mind it. I'm not positive, but I don’t think it comes on 'till the tire pressure drops to 20psi (or possibly slightly higher). I doubt you'll want to run that low...

When I had my nail issue going on - about two weeks - the LPWS alerted as the pressure dropped below 30 psi. I knew I had a slow leak so I was monitoring it closely...

Ah, but you see I was not planning on having a TPS. They run about $200 a toss here in Canada and for the $800 it will cost me I'll just watch my tire pressure myself thanks. Any suggestions?

PS. cracked my Hiro's open last nite and one of them got dented in shipping. !@#$ $%^ ^&*(!!!

As I understand it, the sensors are in the valve assembly, so you can remove them from the old and use them in the new wheels. But I gather they are quite fragile, so use care!

What happens if you just run your new wheels w/out the TPS? Do you get a constant alert or chime?

I doubt it because there won’t be any sensor in the tire to tell the system it's low.

The sensor is on the back (inside) of valve stem – it ends up sitting on the inside of tire (back-side of rim). They are easily removed by simply unscrewing the valve stem from the rim. It would be wise to use them on after-market wheels (IMO). And as previous post stated, they are fragile and cost $250 ea to replace so don’t let 'em get beat up.

I recently powder coated my rims (twice within one week) and they were easy to re-use (with care).

i've been having issues with my tire pressure for about two months now. Seems to go off every other week. I've taken it to the dealer several times but they just check the pressure and send me on my way. It's really starting to annoy me. I'm going to setup an appointment with my service dept. later this week. Any of you get your tires replaced or anything like that after constant issues like mine?

Since I got my Toyos, mine keeps going off during long rides. It's pretty messed up. My tire pressures are lower when warm? Anyway, the chimes don't go off so it's just a silly light that I ignore. I think they're pretty useless anyway since I check the pressures regularly. I keep 'em at 35 psi.

I'm actually having the same problem on my coupe. Every morning when I leave for work the sensor comes on, and I don't have time to check the tire pressure until later that afternoon but when I do the pressure is fine. Only thing I can think of is that there is a large change in temperature from the day to night, going from around 100 degrees to 70 degrees or so at night. Gonna try calling the dealership to see what they say.

What i realized is it only chimes when it is real low other then that its just a light. My 05 x does it all the time long drives or harsh driving.I changed all the tires next is the sensor. Its always the same tires that acts up. The tire gets low an then goes up maybe the air is leaking out through the sensor.

Spray some soapy water around the stem and see if it bubbles up.

I have a set of Rays with no sensors on my rims. It just came on today, for the first time in three years, any ideas?

If you dont have sensors in the wheels, the TPMS light will come on after about 45 minutes of continuous driving. It will reset after you turn off the car. Do you mostly drive in the city/take short trips?

Not sure if it is the same problem I had but hopefully it is the same easy fix as it was for me. My tire pressure sensor was on and wouldn't turn off even though my tires were properly inflated.

I over inflated all my tires 5 lbs more than what was recommended (recommended 30, I did 35) and then drove around a little bit. The sensor went off within a mile. About 4 hours later than night after my tires had cooled off I let the air back down to 30psi and the sensor hasn't came back on. Good luck!
